Spring 2023 Course Alert: Survey Research and Public Policy
"Survey Research and Public Policy," a new opportunity for students that's offered by the Public Policy Center and University College, demonstrates how scientific polls are conducted and explains why they're so valuable for society. CSI:1214 examines how surveys can help solve societal problems, explores elements of good samples, and considers features of well-designed surveys.
CSI:1214 is a 1-semester hour, pass/fail training elective that's entirely online. Students have up to four weeks to complete an original ICON learning module and a metacognitive reflections essay that was designed in collaboration with Learning at Iowa, a student success initiative that promotes equitable learning using evidence-based strategies from cognitive science. Upon completion, students also earn a micro-credential, or "badge," that can be shared on social media and resumes.
Three more sections are offered throughout the Spring 2023 semester:
- February 13 - March 10
- March 20 - April 14
- April 17 - May 12
