Iowa Superfund Basic Research Program: Atmospheric Sources of PCB Congeners

Environmental researcher Scott Spak is teaming with environmental engineers and public health researchers to measure and model the sources, transport and exposure of PCBs at urban and regional scales over Chicago and the Midwest. The study involves a large network of passive atmospheric samplers. Another component will combines atmospheric chemical transport modeling, demographics, and land use history to attempt to explain the observed urban and regional variability. One of the goals is to understand the potential effects of policy to reduce concentrations and exposure.
