The rise in opioid overdose deaths across the United States is a central concern for lawmakers and the general public. PPC researchers who work in this area study rates of opioid overdose deaths across the rural-urban continuum with a focus on identifying the communities most at risk; they study the spatial patterns of overdose deaths by drug type, and identify prevention strategies to reduce the burden of the opioid epidemic.
