Research in this area is concerned with the developmental, behavioral, and physical health implications of exposure to violence and traumatic events across the life-course. For example, researchers at PPC examined the effects of exposure to acute social adversities during childhood on metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease in adulthood. Other researchers are evaluating an intervention to reduce trauma, problem behaviors, and violence in an Iowa school district.
