McGehee Demonstrates Automated Safety Features for KCRG

Transportation and Vehicle Safety Program Director Dan McGehee demonstrated some of the automated safety features to KCRG reporter Forrest Saunders over the weekend.  KCRG ran a story about MyCarDoesWhat?, a national education campaign aimed at helping drivers understand safety technologies and features in their vehicles.  Studies associated with the campaign revealed that drivers for the most part are unfamiliar with the safety features of their vehicles, such as adaptive cruise control and lane departure systems.

McGehee took Saunders for a spin in the department's Volvo XC90, demonstrating how the car can parallel park, auto brake, read speed limit signs, and automatically set cruise control.  The website, mycardoeswhat.org, explains how these features and many others can enhance driving safety.
